On November 12th, 2021, MNA Management team was invited to Trent University’s International Department, as MNA was seeking and was in the process of becoming partners and representatives of Trent University. MNA Management Group was represented by four members Mr. Nadeem Aslam(Chairman), Dr. Saghir Mehar (Leadership and Support), Mr. Ahmed Mazhar Bashir (Advisor- Projects and Education) and Mr. Noman Siddiqui(Admin. & Operations).
Trent University representatives showed interest in partnership in Law and Engineering programs with Middle East Universities. Mr. Saghir explaining the partnerships prospects with Prince Sultan University Law School with Trent also emphasized on partnership prospects with Pakistan Institutes as well. Exchange programs were explored keeping in mind that some Canadians may not be interested in travelling to Middle East and South East countries, hence the university may want the students to go other countries as well.
Another Important program for South East Asian students who come to Canada was explained, which was the ESL program focusing on English as a second Language for Trent. This is helpful for Students with low IELTS scores.
The next meeting was with Mr. Ryan with regards to the co-op program. This opportunity was highlighted for students graduating from Trent. Trent has 12 potential co-op programs. Field placements are unpaid, Co-op and internship are paid program. Wage subsidies must apply. The major issue Trent was facing was the housing issue during the co-op placement for their students outside Durham region. At this point Mr. Azhar Abrar proposed the housing solution in GTA for students.
After the tour of the facility, we had a meeting with Mr. Paul Longhurst (International Student Advisor) about the Faculty Exchange program for research and teaching as a part-time lecture. Which can be considered by Trent University.
Further discussions and meetings will continue in the near future to be finalize and MOU.
